image for Removing Warren Buffett and Bill Gates from My List of Spoofables Sorry, Warren stepped offstage for a minute.

So far, in the little over a year that I've been writing satire, I've only pulled one story, a tasteless piece about Burt Reynolds. I just didn't have the heart. Now I'm making a conscious effort not to spoof two more people no matter what news stories break around them.

Why? Because these two billionaires have done what I never thought I'd see in my lifetime. Besides making it their priority to give away sizeable portions of their own fortunes to the needy, they are urging all like-minded billionaires to do the same-give away at least 50% of their fortunes to those less fortunate.

Warren Buffett says that if he gives away 90% of his fortune, he and his heirs can still live comfortably. I've been saying this for years, although I have to admit, I was looking at his giving away considerably less, say 10% of his fortune. I thought that was a lot of money and it certainly would have been enough to earn him a top spot on any philanthropists list.

And Bill and Melinda Gates, every time you hear of a major fundraising event, it seems their names are somehow associated with it.

I read some comments made when this story broke back in June (it's now getting media attention again), and I must say that I am appalled by some people's opinions. It seems that no matter what anyone does, even if it is giving away billions to good causes, there will always be someone who finds fault in those unselfish actions. Thank goodness, the ill will wished upon them by a scant few didn't keep these two fine gentlemen from going forward with their pledge to use their money to make this a better world and allow all of us to share a piece of their pie.

I salute Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
