image for Ode to Jimmy, Bogie, and Eddie G.

We're losing our rights and privileges
Our lives swoon in a whirl
The guilty sneer unpunished
While the victims meekly twirl

It wasn't like this so long ago
When right and wrong were clear
As we held to a code of honor
Like life itself, t'was dear

Cagney, Bogart and Robinson:
Understood what this code was about
And if anyone tried to screw with them
They'd simply rub'em out.

We need them now, these iconic three
Since everything's gone to hell
We're coming to the final round
We need them to answer the bell

Because we'd like to say……

Screw you, purveyors of climate change
I'm gonna get me a smoke
You think you'll get my pound of flesh
Because I'm just plain ole folk
But just you wait, I won't be bait
'Cause it's our destiny
To give to you the chill, our heroes will
Jimmy, Bogie, and Eddie G.

And screw you, fat cats of finance
While I take a second drag
You've stolen my bucks, you phony f***s
But soon, I'll get to brag
'Cause the day'll come, when we'll have our fun
As we celebrate liberty
'Cause they'll break your bank, our heroes, Hank
Jimmy, Bogie, and Eddie G.

And screw you, Botox-and-brie politicos,
While I take another puff
You nibble at my way of life
And then declare, "That's tough!"
But you'll soon croak when you lose the vote
And we chase you up a tree
'Cause they'll make you scram, our heroes, Sam
Jimmy, Bogie, and Eddie G.

And to our terrorist brethren
While I crush out my butt
You play with fear and intimidation
And our freedoms try to disrupt
But don't be snide, there's no place to hide
As we sweep your decayed debris
Because they have our back, our heroes, Jack
Jimmy, Bogie, and Eddie G.
