WASHINGTON: Is President Obama's Af-Pak Foreign Policy F***ed Up Beyond All Repair? That's the Big Question doing the rounds in Washington today.
First there was the appointment of Richard Holbrooke - the reincarnation of an earlier (brawn-but-no-brains?) Richard Armitage - who was going to force Pakistan to make its paradigm shift on fighting "its real enemy - the Taliban". Result: A desperately-foolish Pak refused a joint-ops strategy and demanded drone technology transfer and $US 30 billion. LOL!!! The Pakistanis might as well have gone for broke and asked for the keys to Fort Knox.
Then there was General Petraeus having his green tea sessions with Pak Army Chief Ashfaq Kayani preceded by the earlier 'state' visit of Kayani to the US and the conferring of medals (taking a page out of the Pak book). "I'm slowly getting to know him", said Gen P.
Shades of deja vu! Didn't an equally naive be-medalled Colin Powell do the same with his 150% duplicitous military buddy General Mush - who for 8 years led the US down the garden path as he BS'd his way in the American media.
"It's like Nero fiddling while Rome burned. What is it about this administration's inability to squash these double-dealing Pakistanis", a former pro-Bush group of retired Army Generals demanded bullishly.
"Looks like the Great Consulter-Listener-Talker without conditions is in for a very rocky ride. He's beginning to find out that talk is cheap - his so-called allies aren't prepared to walk it. Mr. President, looks like your hurriedly crafted Foreign Policy of appeasement has blown up in your face. You have just made our great United States of America the laughing stock of the terrorist world"
Rush (Bad Cheese) Limberger ranted on his radio show "Everybody wanted change - well be careful what you wish for because you just might get it - and you may not like what you get. Already jihadists are swarming ashore our country, invading our places of worship and our Minutemen aren't even properly equipped with long rifles to defend us. Shame, I say, shame, shame, shame".
