image for Save the Economy by Giving Money Straight to the Economists Economist Max Deepockets Truly Believes You Should Support Him So That He Doesn't Break A Nail.

Keynesian economist Maximillian Deepockets explained to NPR analyst Melissa Makeover his take on the present recession. "The Keynesian theory is that if the government puts in a financial stimulus it will get people out spending again."

Melissa: "So you think that people would spend their hard earned money instead of saving it?"

"Yes."

"But why should people spend money on things and pleasures when the money might be needed for survival items like housing, fuel, food, clothing?"

"Because the upper echelons of society rest and depend upon the exchange of money for goods and services to exist. We could hardly afford our lifestyles if all the worker drones only used their money for such mundane things as food and shelter."

"Why should the working and middle class support your lifestyle?"

"Why?!! Because we are the entitled ones. We deserve to be supported by those who do physical work. We can't be bothered with it. We have more important things in society to do."

"Such as?"

"Sit around in lavish, comfortable surroundings and philosophize about how to manipulate the economy to keep ourselves in lavish surroundings."

"How you ever thought about doing honest labor yourself?"

"Heavens, no! That's why I became an economist in the first place!"

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
