On Wednesday, March 28th, a rather mysterious message was received by the fax machine of Mr. Vincent D. Anderson, a resident of Dallas, Texas.
On inquiring with him about the fax, he said, "At approximately 6 P.M. the fax machine started ringing. I picked up the receiver to get the fax. I (was) expecting a fax from one of the suppliers that I do business with. However, as soon as the machine started printing the document, it started making a distinct clicking sound. It has never made such a sound before."
The fax machine was checked by a technician, but no fault was identified. The message from the fax contained a strange set of symbols and designs similar to ASCII art. The local telecommunications provider has not been able to trace the source of the message either.
"We are unable to identify the source as the number displayed in the caller ID has no matches in our database" was the reply of an employee of the telephone company.
A decryption of the message, by the local agency 'SETL-FS'(Search for Extra-Terrestrial Life and other Freaky Stuff), reveals the words 'FOOL' and 'APRIL'. Although, NASA calls it an 'obvious spoof', SETL-FS and other townsfolk of Dallas are still very optimistic about further communication with the source of the fax message.
