All I wanted was some cheery music on the radio to ease my journey thru some sad traffic. My son told me about a radio station that was doing "all Christmas all the time", so like a sucker I tuned in. What a mistake.
The song White Christmas has always made me a little sad, but this new stuff made me suicidal. Hearing a song about a child wanting a pair of shoes for his mother because she spent all the money on his daddy's beer and now can't afford a pair did not make me happy.
Why the hell would anyone write a song like that for Christmas?
Now instead of feeling like crap I felt like complete shit .I didn't know if I should cry my eyes out or slit my wrists. My fear of what might come next was over whelming.
Could it be "All I need for Christmas is a liver transplant" or "I won't be home for Christmas because I'm in the morgue"? God only knows.
Traffic was bad and not moving so I was able to grab my CD case and slip in a disk. I popped in Tom Petty. A familiar lyric came up "even the losers get lucky sometimes" It was a positive message even if it wasn't a Christmas song. Saved by Tom Petty. I think I'll stick to CD's until after the New Year.
