image for Celebrities Distance Themselves From Gaddafi

Celebrities from the world of entertainment are rushing to distance themselves from the discredited regime of Colonel Gaddafi.

Hot on the heels of Nellie Furtado returning £1 million received for performing for the Libyan leader, Beyonce and Mariah Carey have made similar gestures.

Now its been reported that Peter Fluck and Roger Law, creators of one of the biggest series of the Eighties, Spitting Image, are to return 10% of their earnings from the show. A puppet of Colonel Gaddafi was one of the most prominent in the show and its been calculated that this creation was responsible for one tenth of the programme's popularity.

Never one to avoid espousing worthwhile causes, Sting has also announced that he will donate all the royalties from the Police's 1979 number one single "Walking On The Moon", as he based the rhythm on a traditional Tuareg chant from the South of Libya.

Meanwhile, Charlie Sheen has taken time out from his current problems, to fast for 40 days and 40 nights as penitence for shaking Gaddafi's hand at a peace conference in 1997.

Make grimbo's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
