NEW YORK, NY - Comedian Artie Lange has signed on to play the popular Thimble piece in the movie version of the Monopoly game.

"Thimble is a dark, complicated soul with immense history and backstory, but it's also very light and loving, and cares deeply for humanity," states David Fincher who is set to direct this early 20th Century drama shot on location in London.

"We wanted somebody complicated and that could really understand Thimble. Not just what's on the surface of Thimble, the overt generalizations of Thimble, but the intertwinings of Thimble; the symbolism of Thimble. Somebody whose life mirrors that of Thimbles."

Fincher goes onto describe the quick decision of casting Lange as Thimble:

"He came in for a reading and we knew that this man was born to play Thimble. Artie Lange is Thimble. His reading was breath taking, really. Brilliant to say the least."

He adds:

"To me, Lange, like Thimble, is a Charles Dickens' character come to life; he just exudes 'thick cockney accent'. A burley, downtrodden English man living in London on the brink of World War II. A tormented yet jovial, opinionated man you would always find complaining about the corruption of City Hall down at the local tavern, drunk off brew, looking for a tussle."

A few other pieces have also been cast: Brad Pitt will portray Top Hat, Shia Labeouf will portray Race Horse, and Zac Efron will portray Race Car.

Monopoly is set to begin shooting this fall.
