Piers Morgan has defended his comments on Wednesday at a charity lunch when he was rumored to have told a reporter that Susan Boyle 'lives in a metal cage' and 'looks like a Gorilla with Scurvy'.
In typical fashion, Morgan has backed down over the embarrassing comment and announced through his PR agency that 'Susan is a lovely woman'. Piers also added 'The Gorilla comparison was just her attitude. She was feisty and made me want to go the zoo and see Gorillas, that all I meant'.
Morgan, who was sacked as chief editor of the Daily Star in 2002 following fake picture from Iraq, showing British soldiers helping disabled iraqi children into nightclubs, is no stranger to controversy.
Boyle was unable for comment but was also rumored to be at the lunch where Morgan made his comments.
Its been an unfortunate week for Boyle. On Monday, her mother admitted accepting an offer from a Circus to take Susan away from her when she was five years old. Had the circus not entered administration shortly after the offer, things may have been very different.
Cowell was also unavailable for comment but has reportedly warned Morgan that any more comments directed at contestants of the show, could result in Morgan being replaced by another celebrity.
