At first, the only thing that people (mostly women and sailors) had pierced was their earlobes. This traveled all around the ears and eventually migrated to tongues, lips, eyebrows, nipples, and other body parts.

The latest craze is now the pierced testicle. Instead of studs, balls, or jewels, however, men are decorating their scrotums with gold and silver hoops. "Gives a new meaning to getting a hole in one, if you know what I mean," said Ron French, owner of French's Tattoo Parlor and Piercing Emporium in Los Angeles, California.

According to French, scrotum piercings are now the most popular service he provides to males 18 to 22. Many of the men come in for the procedure "because they've usually got some girlfriend dragging them in who wants the experience."

French did warn of possible hazards: "You don't want to try this one at home with your Sears nail gun or a needle and piece of cork. This really needs to be done with sanitary equipment by a licensed professional. After all, nobody wants accidental castration."

"I've had to hire me some gays to do the piercings," concluded French. "When my women employees take a guy's nutsack in hand, as it were, you tend to get the natural reaction. Most of my male employees, the straight ones at least, don't want to look like fags and hold some guy's package. This has increased my payroll, but the increase in business is balancing it out."
