Daniel Day-Lewis

Renowned method actor Daniel Day-Lewis has been preparing for his latest film role as a talented but reclusive English method actor by locking himself away in a luxurious French mansion, not talking to anyone and refusing to do interviews.

Talented but reclusive actor Day-Lewis, who lives in isolation in a luxurious French mansion and usually refuses interviews, became a household name when he portrayed Christy Brown in 'My Left Foot', and more recently starred in the Oscar winning 'There Will Be Blood' to critical acclaim. He is well known for remaining in character throughout filming, even when the cameras stop rolling.

'This latest role is the biggest challenge of my career. I've been trying to get into the mind of a man who shies away from public life, and only works twice a decade by not going out very much and hardly working. It has been an exhausting and difficult time."

A key moment in the upcoming release occurs at the start of the film, when, despite having whinged about how futile and elitist award ceremonies are, his character shows up to accept an award at the last minute after hearing he has won a prize.

"It's an important moment in the film", says Daniel, "It's the first time we get to see how shallow my character is, and how quickly he dispenses with his principals for the sake of a quick congratulatory backslap".

"Out Of Retirement" is released nationwide next Friday, several sequels are planned.
