(New York City)-Joe Piscopo is still 'not ready for primetime', but Saturday Night Live creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels announced Thursday that the former cast member will be returning for the 2004-2005 season.
The New Jersey natives first run on 'SNL' was just three years, from 1980 to 1983, but the characters he portrayed quickly became a part of America's living rooms and bars.
"We always had an open door for him to return", Michaels said in a phone interview. "I hope he can act as a father figure to some cast members who need some sense of mature perspective when it comes to comedy"
The 52 year old actor will join the show to replace the departing Jimmy Fallon.
