The Cover Art of Roger Waters' next album - Syd : The Opera

Deceased psychedelic hero Syd Barrett is on top form in the spirit world.

Medium Agatha Blunstone decided to contact the man who in life was an elusive inspiration to a legion of fans. Agatha said that Syd must be content in his new life as a ghost.

Every single question Agatha asked met with stony silence. "This is so exciting!" Agatha shouted at us via a megaphone, "Syd is living up to form... when he was here, he spoke to nobody about Pink Floyd. Nobody."

Questions asked by the faded buxom Miss Blunstone included...

  • What was you mumbling about at the end of "No Good Trying"?
  • Was Nick Mason's moustache the reason for the decline in popularity of Pink Floyd in late 1967?
  • When you did Top Of The Pops, what did you think of the fact that Jimmy Savile slept in a van outside?
  • All of these questions and more all elicited the same response. Total silence.

"It's just like the Pat Boone Show all over again" sighs Agatha.

However, just as we were about to go to press, Agatha rushed into our office - why can't she just get a telephone? - and announced she had finally heard something other than silence.

"I asked Syd if he was haunting Roger Waters and the room suddenly filled up with this eerie manic laughter that sounded like quacking ducks".

The Madcap is still laughing...
