A white girl yesterday

Thousands of fans enjoyed the musical stylings of several young beat-combos at an outdoor festival to promote anti-racism in London yesterday.

"We felt it necessary to point out to our multi-cultural youth of today that people are different colours and races and we are not all the same." said Fenella Gelding, organiser of the event.

She continued "Without anti-racism events like this our well adjusted youth would continue to discriminate along arbitrary themes such as 'being a specky freak' or ' a spazz' or even 'emo' but now we have reminded them that race is an issue and to be aware of it at all times. It's important work."

We asked a North London youth what he thought of the concert. "I took my mates Abdullah, Keith, Yakkim and Hamed down to see the gig and now I actually see them as entirely different to me instead of us being mates who hang out. I realise now they are all different races. It really got me thinking. I mean one of them turned out to be a Jew for gods sake." said Llewellyn Thomas, 14.
