A group of students from Portsmouth were going to launch a band that sang about conspiracy theories. Commonly known as the "Drab Four" because of their geek-like appearance, they planned to make their debut next week.
However, they have been banned by University Principal, Dr Jack Benson, because of their radical approach to music and the lyrics may cause offence to many; including Veterans, Royalty, Sandwich Bar Owners, Telephonists, in fact just about anyone. But hey wait a minute That's what they said about The Sex Pistols who went onto to begin a whole new genre of music. Who wasn't offended at the time? People soon got over it and found something else to moan about.
It seems strange that 127 people complained about someone being buried alive in the BBC soap, Eastenders, and just laughed it off, yet one gypsy complains about a cardboard fox being racist and the BBC apologize and promise not to show it again. That in itself is a conspiracy!
In Seine News spoke to the band's manager, who cannot be named for legal reasons. He said;
"I think pop stars and politicians have been spouting out the same old drivel for years and now it's time for something entirely different. The lads are great and should inspire a new way of thinking. The name of this new group is not Guns 'n' Roses, but Cloak 'n' Daggers after the drummer, Danny Dagger from Dagenham. However this caused a bit of a row within the group as they felt it a bit too obvious about their conspiratorial beliefs and so the name 'Smoke 'n' Mirrors' was chosen after the lead singer Maurice Mirror. They're going to go along way - listen out for them!"
