image for Bollywood Casablanca Remake To Star That Mohit Bloke

The classic Hollywood romance movie Casablanca is to be given a Bollywood makeover, renamed and rereleased in traditional Indian cinema format, complete with 26 new and unending 'musical compositions'.

The new version of the 1942 film, entitled Ezham Mudra, meaning Mud In Your Ear, stars newcomer Mohit Minhas, and is set the Indian state of Uttar Rubbesh where, just last week, a planting of 10 million trees was ruined when 100 million gallons of rain fell in one hour, washing the saplings and half of the state away.

In the film, Mohit plays Humphresh Bogi, a streetcafe owner who helps his lover, the beautiful Madge, played by Aishwarya Rai, escape from her snake charmer boss into the foothills of the Himalayas. There are several striking similarities with the original movie, and the last scene, where Bogi bids farewell to Madge on the airfield, has been updated to a rickshaw taxi rank in the squalor of downtown Mumbai.

Bollywood films are noted for their exciting and very long musical sequences, complete with sophisticated dance routines, and this movie is no exception. Compared to the original movie, which ran for just under two hours, the duration of this one, at just over 12 hours, may seem a little long for some audiences.

Director Rajeev Nath says that his film will be "a pisstake" of the original, and will be viewed by ten times as many people - all in India.

Make Monkey Woods's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
