"I reckon that those are Cirrus but they could be Altocumulus" Eric Clapton

Pop Svengali, Simon Cowell, has announced his latest project and it will certainly raise a few eyebrows.

It's a boy-band with a difference and one or two of the faces will certainly be familiar. Cowell told us:

"The whole boy band genre is getting a bit tired so I've decided to tweak the formula and have a bit of fun also"

We can reveal that the new band called The Weather Boys comprises of ex-BBC weathermen John Kettley, Michael Fish, Ian McCaskill and Eric Clapton.

"The Weather Girls back in the eighties enjoyed success aplenty and we think the boys can do the same in the noughties," says megalomaniac Simon before adding "And adding Clapton on guitar is a masterstroke"

We queried Clapton's weather credentials and the power-mad popster told us:

"Eric had an ACME junior weather set when he was lad. He was always looking at the sky to see what sort of clouds were up there and what weather his mum and dad could expect as a result"

The Weather Boys first release will be a cover of the Travis anthem "Why does it always rain on me" and will be in the shops from Monday.

Make Duff's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)
