Despite her bumper haul of awards at last night's Grammy awards Americans are still confused about exactly where Adele is from.

The confusion, although not affecting U.S sales of her album 21, is causing some Americans to question just how 'into' the North London singer they should be.

Sandy Glirkenberger, a 28 year old Marketing executive from New Haven CT told our reporter 'I cant quite put my finger on where shes from. She looks Irish and if she was that'd be really cool because Ive been to loads of Irish bars and quite like Guinness.'

Mark Fizzi, a construction worker from Boston, echoed the sentiments:
'I thought she was Irish too-shes certainly got an Irish broad's ass but when I heard her talk she sounded like an Australian- its Australians that pronounce 'thing' as 'fing' aint it?'

But a number of Americans we spoke to correctly identified Adele as being from London:

Mandy Petersen, a nurse from Miami, was delighted with Adele's acceptance speech 'Ive been to London its sooo cute there and I love the accents...I think Adele is a right jolly cock-er-nee in real life just like Dick Van Dyke and probably goes to tea with the queen on her own red London bus.'

Adele's management confirmed Adele's origins for her American fans as being from Tottenham, North London and asked for them to stop sending her letters telling her how 'cute her Scottish accent is'.
