The manhunt for Ian Somerhalder continues as Nina Dobrev steps in as negotiator

ATLANTA - As the manhunt for actor Ian Somerhalder continues up in the North Georgia mountains, Vampire Diaries producers take the show off the air until February 2012. Reporters and paparazzi cornered damsel in distress extraordinaire, Nina Dobrev, on Saturday morning to get an update on the crisis.

"The Atlanta County Sheriffs called me to step in as a negotiator," Ms. Dobrev explained when asked about the reason for her presence in the area. "My boss, Julie Plec, had a cow when she found out Ian was missing, so they're doubling my salary if I cooperate with authorities."

The way they were: See pictures of Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev together here.

The paps were especially concerned about the reason The Vampire Diaries has been taken off the air until February, so they probed Nina Dobrev about the rationale behind such an extreme decision.

"They'd rather wait until Ian comes to his senses because they know fans won't be watching the show if Damon Salvatore is not in it," was Nina's reply. "Fans are already furious enough as it is because Damon and Elena's kiss was a big tease and led nowhere, so Kev Williamson doesn't want to risk pissing them off even more."

Ms. Dobrev refused to reveal any spoilers for upcoming episodes, claiming she could get in trouble if she released any information. "The future of The Vampire Diaries is in jeopardy, anyway," Nina stated. "If I can't persuade Ian to break radio silence, the rescue team fears the worst. Their only hope is that Ian will pull his head out of his a*s*s if he hears a familiar voice."

The interview was cut short as authorities forced reporters to turn off all recording devices and to leave the area, which is now a circus rife with police cars, fire engines, K-9 units, unmarked black helicopters and even a S.W.A.T team.
