image for BA Goofs by including Osama in Collector Boarding Passes
BA will issue collector boarding passes for celebrities.

Just like baseball cards, BA is issuing boarding passes of famous passengers. One of the first in the series is Osama Bin Laden, which has received a great deal of criticism. Embarrassed by the choice, an official apology was issued today and downplayed the significance of the blunder. The company will continue on with the collector boarding passes niche marketing effort.

Just ten thousand sets of twenty collector-boarding passes will be produced, and will be sold via the Internet or at any ticket counter. The first printing will be a solid investment and can be traded or sold like baseball cards. The Queen, Bill Clinton, Sean Connery, Mick Jagger are just a few of the cards in the first set.

The entire effort of issuing collector-boarding passes is aimed at increasing brand awareness throughout the globe. Subsequent printing will not be as limited but each twenty-card set will contain a gold card that is a limited print. The gold cards can be traded for frequent flyer miles that increase geometrically the more gold cards you have. The collector cards will all contain vital flight statistics like miles traveled, routes taken, flight numbers, gate numbers, captains name, etc. that can be fun to tabulate and compare.

The second prong of the marketing effort is a new board game called 'BA Boarding Pass' which is similar to Monopoly. Players move around the board with the throw of the dice. If they land on an airport code they can buy it and charge landing rights. And so on. BA Boarding Pass will be sold wherever board games are sold, and given away as a prize on low budget TV Game Shows.
