image for Credit crunch is hitting footballers' wives
Footy wife reduced to buying economy tanning

It would appear the credit crunch is now hitting home to footballers' wives.

Although many premiership footballers and their wives think a credit crunch is a breakfast bar from Nabisco, many are having extreme difficulty in making ends meet on the six-figure sums their husband's earn each week.

An economic analysist said that while some footballers' wives have careers outside shopping such as singing and talent contest judging, many only have shopping as a second job.

Adding to the evidence is the increase in sales in single price value shops. Whereas before, the wives were happy to take a blank cheque - mainly of course due to literacy problems - into their favoruite shops such as Harvey Nichols and Harrods, they are now reduced to shopping in the Harvey Nichols and Harrods branches of "Everything's a Grand", where all items cost £1000, and not a piano as assumed by Tottenham Hotspur wife Dimlie Litte, who turned up with a truck carrying two Bechsteins and a Steinway.

Even Roman Abramovitch is feeling the pinch as he puts his wedding on hold. He feels the £15,000 he might spend on a wedding could dent his £15billion fortune too much in these hard times. Particularly with his £800 million yacht to pay for.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
