image for Oil Is Cheaper Today! Get Some Petrol Quick!
Shoppers rush around trying to find the petrol!

The world's financial markets have today shown a dramatic slump in the price of oil, and several leading UK supermarkets are holding an extraordinary one-day 'Petrol Is Down' spectacular sale!

The drop of more than 8% means that Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys are able to offer the cut-price deal, but Tesco, being conscious of profits, are watching from the sidelines to see what happens.

Asda were the first to act, cutting the cost of their petrol by 3p per litre. Morrisons soon followed with a 4p cut.

Finally, Sainsburys slashed their price by 5p, but only to customers who also buy at least £15 worth of groceries.

Tesco, Britain's largest and most successful supermarket, clothing retailer, insurance provider etc, say that they are considering their oil prices, with a view to offering a free bag of apples, or a box of 160 Tesco Economy Tea Bags and extra Clubcard points with every 25 litres of petrol bought at their stations tomorrow.

There are no plans to offer it on a BOGOF basis. *
