Applefart, 49, has gone into the record book as the City of London's biggest disaster mastermind since Nick Leeson fleeced Barings of a mere £800 million in 1995.
He is now rumored to be made a minister at the Treasury in early 2008, charged with advising on government policy on wealth distribution.
