image for KFC Reveals Acronym Mistake Almost Cost It BILLIONS in the Russian Market
Newest KFC in Moscow

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY - "We almost lost a billion dollar market in Russia", stated KFC spokesman, Stonewall Jackson VI, today in a news conference to announce its expansion in the former Soviet Union.

"When we ordered the KFC signs from a local business, they accidentally misspelled our logo. Thankfully, one of our top executives noticed the mistake before fifty bright white signs with 10 foot KGB letters were installed across the country.

The mistake was revealed only after the story was leaked to Russian newspapers by an employee at the sign shop located in Moscow.

"We don't want to offend our Russian friends", explained Jackson, 'because the Russian market is one of the most important for the company. If you remember your history books, White Russians supported the Tsar. The connotation would have been devastating."

Hoping to mitigate the mistake, KFC decided to change the color of the KFC signs to match the colors in the onion dome architecture of their newest Moscow store.

"While it is a little over the top compared to our usual store design, we think it makes quite a statement about our commitment to the Russian people," concluded Jackson. "I like to think Colonel Sanders would be pleased."
