image for Chevron opens Moon regional HQ
New rigs on the Moon's Sea of Tranquility will soon pump the area dry

Pennsylvania - Newly acquired lunar oil field rights mean the San Ramon-based super major needs a new regional headquarters office campus a Chevron source said today.

And next month the company will be starting up its newbuild-in-the-sky according to a statement issued from chevron's California HQ this morning.

"We are committed to this extraordinary venture," the company CEO said announcing the $57 billion investment, "and to our new found lunar community where Chevron will be calling the shots in a vibrant unfolding regional space economy.

"The company is confident of producing lunar energy for the next 100 years in a move that will fuel this region of space and our own Earth nation for generations."

The US energy giant's game plan begins with the construction of a $57 billion work/live Moon biodome from where all Dark Side exploration, drilling and fracking will be directed from 2018 onwards.

The facility will be partly constructed aboard the International Space Station although most of the Moon hangar's self-assembly components will be shipped from Earth on regular NASA freighter flights.

America's national space agency will be partnering the Chevron moon base project in a historic contract that aims to develop the next generation of space fuels following the imminent final closure of NASA's Pasadena-based Jet Convulsion Laboratory.

A barrel of sweet light marker crude retails around $100.
