image for Yippee! Beeb's handy Budget Calculator puts Spoof writer at £7,984,115 better off in 2013/14!
Off to Carbon Beach, Malibu with the Budget proceeds

London - An online Budget Calculator published by the BBC has estimated that one Spoof writer will be approximately £8 million per annum better off in 2013 following George Osborne's Budget on Wednesday.

A 5% cut in the top rate of income tax and minor tweaking of other key indicators sees the scribe quids in at last following years of extortionate New Labour smoke 'n' mirror budgets.

Speaking on condition of anonymity the writer refused to be drawn what proportion - if any - of annual income derives directly from Spoof submissions and/or lucrative offshore trusts that shelter valuable story points.

"I didn't get where I am today by blabbing about my tax returns," is the gist of a garbled response when asked to comment on the Tory budget windfall.

A penny off a pint of bitter makes f++k all difference, of course, but otherwise every little helps.

Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer Ed Balls wishes he had some.
