image for "End of the world can't come quick enough" says pay-day loan company Wodga.web's biggest debtor

Denshaw resident Sidney Tuttle, says he cant wait for the Mayan prophecy of the worlds annihilation on the 21st December.

The reason behind Mr Tuttle's grim outlook on life is that he is acknowledged to owe more money than anyone in Britain to "Payday loan" company Wodga.web

Sidneys plight began in May when he and his wife Edna, borrowed £200 to pay their car tax bill before going on holiday. The problems started when Sid and Edna returned home, to find that Sid had mistakenly only take the loan for one week, and not for one month as he had intended. Waiting for them was a bill from Wodga for full settlement of the loan, which had risen to £425.50p, due to staggering interest rate of 2,425%APR that had been applied.

Mr Tuttle said he contacted Wodga and explained his mistake, and asked if they would accept an interim payment of £80 for this month. The lady at Wodga was quite pleased to allow Sid's debt roll over for another month, but for Sid, the problems were gathering pace. When he received his next bill, the amount he owed had risen to £750, and as the Tuttle's only paid Wodga what they could afford, Sid and Edna were off to Hell in a handcart.

When we spoke to Mr Tuttle last week he told us his last bill was for £12,855-95p, but was putting on a brave face about it. He told our reporter "Thankfully the world is going to end on the 21st, so it doesn't seem worth paying the buggers for December. I just hope these Mayans has got their sums right, or we are going to be right in the shit come January"
