This is a real joke told to me by a real Russian-

A long line had formed outside the meat market near Red Square as it did every day. As usual the customers waiting there were patient, although today a strain of irritation added a tension to the atmosphere. People were not happy with the changes the new Premier, Gorbachev, was making in the country. It seemed like every thing was taking longer instead of improving.

Finally one old man threw up his arms in exasperation. "That does it!" he says, "I'm going to go over and shoot Gorbachev!"

"We'll hold your place in line." said his neighbors appreciatively.

The man stomped off in the direction of the Kremlin. Shortly, however, he returned with a dismayed look on his face.

"What happened Comrade? Why are you back so soon?" they asked.

The poor man threw his hands up in the air again hopelessly. "The line over there to shoot him was twice as long!"
