From News Discussion / Beethoven's Tenth Symphony - Out Today

5* Roy and much enjoyed. But it isn't true.

When I was 30, a mate of mine made me a DG record sleeve of MY recording of Ludwig's 10th - and the story of it's inaugural performance in a lunchtime concert on Acton Green - with me conducting. I still treasure it. Sorry to be the bearer of this bad news.

A few years back I nearly persuaded the boss of Classic FM to give me all his news slots from 5.00a.m on April 1st to break news of the discovery in Finland of the missing 2 movements of Schubert's 8th... Using 8 made up characters, a great story line - and obviously 8 well-rehearsed actors. He couldn't afford it. But that's another story.

Regards

Juan

Did I say Tenth? I meant Eleventh! Actually, don't they call Johannes Brahms' 1st Beethoven's 10th? Also when I wrote the article I hadn't read this, which this morning sounded quite familiar.

All the best
Roy

Hey Skoob - good story - I nearly wrote the exact same one but it wouldn't have been as good. By the way, one of my spoofs is making it as a snippet into a proper printed book (by a proper writer, and it's going to be sold on Amazon!) in a couple of weeks - I'll post details once it happens. Interested to hear if other spoofers have had this happen. I know it's not my book, but I feel quite proud.

By the way, you have had some cracking stories over the last few weeks and your writing style is really coming through. Five stars is probably a bit passé, but you got 'em anyway.

All the very best
Roy

When I started I did a story about Robert Peston telling people to take their money out of banks and to buy Premium Bonds. All mention of Robert Peston was removed from the story, which meant it lost most of its meaning. I never really understood why it was edited like that, because I have said much worse things about MPs, bankers & celebrities since, which have all gone through.

Mark did delete a story I did in the form of a Cease and Desist lawyer's letter sent to theSpoof from Ashton Kutcher. But that may have been because it wasn't very good.

I'm outraged by all this. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. A rock star falls off stage and you think it's...

Aaargh!

Oh shit! Me neck!

At least he didn't fall off a bike...

I always thought Tyler was a little AC-DC....Wait that's another group!

You mean the chap resembles a female?

Or the man seems similar to a woman?

Or the fellow approximates the form of an adult girl?

It's sometimes difficult to find the right words...

Anyway, I think the dude mostly looks like Joan Rivers.

Liked your bad classics list Skoob. Not many people will have seen Bad Taste (Basically a home movie made by the Lord of the Rings director when he was a kid and before CGI was invented.)

And you missed out 'If', the Lindsay Anderson film with Malcome McDowell. Half colour, half in B&W, wierd quintessentially British story based on public school, soundtrack based on an African Latin Mass, etc.

Hey Roy..Want to do Chapter 11?

Hi Buck,
Struggling to get the time at the moment, but I'll try to get round to reading the last eight chapters. I may be able to have a go in the next week or so if that's not too late.
Regards
Roy
P.S. I see I have answered your question before you asked it. Maybe I already wrote Chapter 11 but don't know about it yet. Does Mark know that UTC times are not being used for posts?

Thanks Skoob. Not getting much spooftime these days but trying to keep up with what's going on. By the way, is there an easy way of finding all the BT004 stories on Magazine?

This is well documented:

But don't presume you are the 'lone writer'; you could be one of the other writer's multiple personalities. Like me.

Mmm . . Marmite
I wrote this a while back:Marmite story
Then I was contacted by someone writing a book about Marmite and wanting to include it. Last I heard it was going ahead, but I haven't heard anything lately.

If it's hard to describe Marmite, what about Twigglets?

Hot day. Outdoors. Tall chilled glass beaded with condensation. Ice. Big squeeze of lime juice. Big glug of Gin. Tonic to the top. Chunk of lime. Bowl of salted cashew nuts on the side. Comfy chair. Sound of someone using a push mower two houses away. Scent of cut grass. No wasps. No phones. Light breeze.

Cold fingertips, clink of ice, first sip...
