From General Discussion / Robin WIlliams to play Susan Boyle?
Posted 26 Aug 09 15:19
Message
I just spoofed this this week using Robin Williams and Wilford Brimley competing with Williams ahead because of his movie, Mrs Doubtfire.

I saw it as a funny rumor on the net and now it may be true. Or it may still be a rumor, who knows?

If it IS true, I guess Brimley will play the boyfriend back home in Scotland. At least that's what I wrote.

Shows you can't outspoof Hollywood's own creation.

Maybe he can do "The Bea Arthur Story" next.

Thanks for the compliments.

I know I stated this on another Forum but if anyone is interested in reading a great spoof on Woodstock, read Abel's account: Woodstock - Wow! Forty Birthday Candles!

It's great.

My latest poor attempt at humor, "David Crosby Remembers(?) Woodstock" has been placed in the magazine section.

I think the magazine is "The Twilight Zone".

Any other names for it out there?

If you remember Crosby, Stills and Nash or go way back to The Byrds, it might give you a laugh.

But for a GREAT article on Woodstock, check out Abel's "Woodstock Wow 40 Birthday Candles". Don't want to miss that one.

Good 5* Spoof.

I like Geller's half-brother, Bent Fabric, a lot better. He did a piano favorite of mine, "Alley Cat".

You can't stay around Geller very long until you're bent out of shape. I think he's warped.

Supposedly they originated in the Isle of Man. Our first one lived 17 years, second one 15 years and these guys are 5.

Manx cats are tailless. Have a great personality. Long back legs. Look like bobcats. Rambunctious kittens even in old age.

Wonder if any have made it 37 years?

Thanks Abel. Just read the Pussywillow story. That's great 5*.

My wife and I have two Manx cats that are both sick with virus right now so your story came right on time.

We've had Manx cats for 37 years and I do believe they are smart enough to do anything.

For instance, the two of them being waited on by us at the present time.

My favorite "Movie" was The Last Waltz about the group The Band's last performance in San Francisco's Filmore West. It was 1978 and the best inside story on rock at the time or any time for that matter.

The guys talk about being on the road for 15 years between the music and they ask a lot of friends to drop by and they do.

I finally got a copy so I can time travel back to the music of the '60's & early '70's.

Thanks guys. I just got on here and don't know who was on last the way this thing reads.

Here's another thing that's happened with me lately: I place several snippets and they always go one after another on the list in order that I placed them. Ever since the Discussion fForums went wacko, my snippets skip around. At first I thought one hadn't been printed after I hit the "send" but then I noticed it had come on, but 4-5 spaces down.

Weird.

By the exact date, it'll be Swine Flu season so they'll probably forbid parties.

Can't believe the number of articles you have on here. I rely heavily on the snippets, Hollywood & Twilight. Most of my others get few views.

Wonder what's the average age of Spoof readers? Must be pretty young by the articles that get the clicks.

Thanks Skoob,

I wasn't complaining about my snippets being one-starred but EVERY snippet was one-starred for at least ten pages that everyone had put on here.

Plus how does he/she get to snippets you haven't gotten printed yet?

I'm not the best at understanding how these things work so I could easily be overlooking something.

I don't really care about the guy honestly thinking something is trash, quite a bit is trash, but to just go through a whole group of writers like that, doesn't make sense. I don't even think they were read.

Hi Bureau,

Nice to hear from you.

This one-starring thing happens to all of us. I had somebody work some way into my story history recently and one star loads of stories.

I can only give you my slant on this.

If somebody likes your stuff they'll give you 3, 4, or 5 stars, which is great. If they really object to what you're saying they might one star you as a protest. It doesn't really bother me either way, because I feel I'm provoking a reaction. Good or bad. Whatever.

For example, Michael Jackson fans probably trawled every MJ story and one starred them all, irrespective of who wrote them. They're MJ fans and it pisses them off that some of us could be so irreverent towards their 'hero'

It does bother some writers, but frankly I give not a shit.

The way I do it when I read other people's stuff is, if I don't think it warrants the rating it already has, then I won't rate it. I'm not in the business of stifling creativity.

If a story or snippet has one star and I think it deserves better, then I'll mark it up.

I've rated several of your snippets Bureau. Never less than 5* one-liners if memory serves.

Respectfully

Skoob.
