So Britney Spears is claiming that she shaved her head because she had "lice." Unless"lice" is some sort of celebrity street slang for "illegal narcotics," I'm not buying it.

Britney ****ed the whole **** up. The chick is cracked. Do lice even eat hair extentions? A likely story, to be sure. What would compel Britney to shave off her luxurious weave (Exaggerated cough suggesting feigned detachment), exposing a cratered surface with a crazy-eyed "Look What I Just Did" face into all the assembled cell-phone cameras? Lice, people (Or so she wants us to believe). Horses may have had to die -- or at least appease the appetite of a Lagerfeld -- for Britney's hair, but apparently lice (Riiight) were making a meal of her scalp. At least that is Britney's admittedly "****y" self-diagnosis. According to the 3AMGirls:

Either that, or -- the much more sane reason -- is Fed-Ex threatened to have her hair tested for drugs in their upcoming custody battle. Britney, as youll remember, is -- like all trailer trash -- obsessed with crime scene forensics. Obsessed. We don't know why trailer trash dig it; our aesthetic tastes run towards African masks, Gurdjieffian metaphysics and Etruscan Vases, but there's no accounting for taste. Evidently Brit-Brit, amateur forensic scientist (or, perhaps K-Fed just knew how to push her buttons) kind of lost it when thinking those same forensic breakthroughs she loves could permanently separate her from her kids. So she cut her hair, not realizing that her eyebrows and eyelashes still exist. Crackhead move, brit.

If I was running a satirical website that was not being attributed correctly in a commercial tabloid paper for a direct rip-off story I would write to the editors and point out standard industry professional etiquette/code that says give credit where it's due or pay the author royalties.

The Spoof is a relative minnow compared to the Daily Mail and its sister the London Evening Standard.

If they syndicate the story to other sites and publications that originated here last Saturday it will constitute a larger breach of conduct.

Then it might be worth thinking about the legal equivalent of an electronic cattle prod.

JMan, you might be in the money at long last.

I'm thinking of waiting a day or two to see if they syndicate their story; a lot of their stuff gets published in English language papers and websites abroad especially the Middle East and Asia.

Then it might be worth a pounce.

Personally my preference would be for the paper to run an attribution with the story focusing on how a relatively small satirical site is suddenly taking off into the stratosphere (I'm looking at your scores this week, Senor, wondering just when you're gonna hit the big 100).

And then to publish the Spoof items on their website and paper.

Don't think they are likely to cough up much $$$$$ but if I get paid JMan then we can go 50/50 - having seen my writers discussion message to you of last Saturday about the lice story that would seem appropriate.

Daily Mail is a right wing UK tabloid with about 2.5 million readers of the printed edition plus mega-doshed up website.

Their sister paper the London Evening Standard is also carrying the Spoof lice stories today, see:

Someone asked this question on another website I was looking thru the other day and got one reply saying 'if you think you gotta cyber-stalker ain't nothin' like winding him/her up with your fictionalised blog'. I got the feeling he thought the Feds/private investigators/creditors were trailing him and created a blog angled to gee them up a bit.

How it's angled is a personal matter. Awful lot of gynaecologicals on this site!
