The Bears won the game. I'm a Bear fan.

The announcers were complaining that they went to visit Stonehenge only to find that it was closed.

There's supposed to be talk that a football team might be located in London. The stadium looked to be filled and the crowd was enthusiastic.

Have you Brits thought of following American football ... the real way football is supposed to be played.

I am watching the game between the Chicago Bears and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers which is being played at Wembly Stadium in London.

Congratulations to the USA for defeating Brazil in what can only be described as an epic match. Wow!!

Now for France next ...

Looks like England's women's team can't do penalty kicks (or whatever you call them) any better than the men.

What a sad loss after they hung in there for so long.

What do you Brits think of England's chances?

Those screeching female tennis players should have their vocal chords clipped.

Too many poorer students are sticking out like sore thumbs in schools where they do not wear a uniform. Raggedy Anns Raggedy Andys hang their heads in shame whilst walking down the hallways passing all the fashion kings and queens who put more thought into their outfits than they do in their studies.

Uniforms should be manadatory. This is not really open to debate as far as I am concerned. It just should BE.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Wearing ordinary clothes can sometimes reach the point of the theatre of the absurd. One of the largest high schools in Iowa just banned the wearing of white T-shirts because they can be interpreted as a statement of a symbol of white supremacy.

I do hope you will continue writing some of your political satire pieces. As a colonist, I do find it one way of understanding what people are thinking in the UK.

I believe the SuBo stuff has more or less had its day in the sun... unless Elsewhere does something truly outrageous. It's such a narrow genere of satire perhaps a lot of the readers found it difficult to follow.

NMC -- I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughtful post on the psychology of forums.

Joining the Susan Boyle fansite was my first experience at belonging to a forum. In the begining the interplay between individuals was kind of fun, but when the site switched formats the worst qualities of a number of members began to emerge. I sat back in fascinated horror and watched it turn into a totalitarian state.

Although I write spoofs in a very narrow genre, it has at least been cathartic poking fun as some of the more outrageous aspects of Susan Boyle fandom. A pity they cannot gain some insight from they way we see them.

PS I think there may be something seriously wrong with me -- I am getting used to the vuvuzelas!

Have just been listening to the commentary after the Ghanna game and the American commentator (didn't catch his name) remarked that England is suffering from delusions of grandeur -- that they aren't as good as they think they are.

How does that statement grab anyone?
