Extract from Article:
And the God of Data sat on his heavenly throne and he looked down upon the world of education and he said, "They know not what they do" And lo, the God of Data said, "I shall create a new world of education and it shall be created in five days, like what there are in a school week. And on the first day the God of Data created targets so that all of the children could be numbered to be judged on.....

I love this.

Teachers will love this.

Pupils will love this.

Those who were once pupils will love this.

Rob ... you are a genius!

If 42 is the answer, the question is if 24 looks in the mirror, who does she see?

As a teacher I loved this.

As a writer, I wish I would have thought of it.

I fived it but because God invented slow smart phones in the 6th day I think it registered as a 3.

Brilliant.

Oh. They've encased him in Carbonite. He should be quite well protected. If he survived the freezing process, that is.

Thank you very much. I'm flattered. It's the first time I've ever looked at the forum. I didn't know it was here!! I retired from teaching 18 months ago and it was getting ridiculously data driven then. I think it's getting worse. I'm on the local NUT committee and we continuously hear of intimidation and fear due to over-observation, fear of capability proceedings and the slavish adherence to data and jargon. There's a great article about it by John Yandell of the Institute of Education at the University of London. If anyone would like a copy I can send it on. It's called "What does learning look like" and it exposes the myths of data-driven education and the concept of learning as being linear and continually measurable. I'm now a comic poet and singer. my website is www.robbarratt.co.uk. Thanks again Rob Barratt.

Many thanks Katarina. A friend of mine has now edited the clip so it's a bit shorter and the sound is less tinny. It's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=441z3yZOpSM. Rob.
