*old man sitting in pub*
"I was at The Spoof for 40 yers, man an boy, great times, laugh? we used to cry with laughter at some of the antics. Ooh an the rows! What a todo, they could be. There was these two coves, who would start a bit of banter, an it would go on for days, no one really knew what it was abart, but we laughed out loud at the rebaldery. Mr Mark, the Manager, he would come along and put a stop to it, before they got out of hand, course, in them days, no one got sacked, they just got a clip rarnd the earole. Good days. I miss them, Skoob, C.J. Lynton, Inchcock, Debbie, an then there's Clive, Iain B, Jaggedone, Monkey. Oh there are many more, that have gone bye the bye, and here I am, sitting in the Cole Hole on me jacks, wondering what happened to the good old days, when it was standing room only, and you were lucky if you could get a word in edge ways, crowded! it was like sardines in a can! The place never slept, cleaners had to find a bit of space to mop and dust, always bloody complaing they were! All quiet now though, makes me wonder why I keep coming back, I suppose it's in the hope they will return. I may come in one evening and there they all are, arguing the toss abart nothing, but filling the air with laughter and baffonery, It's a strange sound, silence. Cold. *Old man stands and makes for the exit* |

Nostalgia's not what it used to be.
When I was a chipolata, I remember people talking about the old good old days. The way they spoke back then was so exaggerated and hyperbolic it made today's memories look like last Tuesday's leftovers. I miss the good old days' nostalgia, not like the fluff you get now. |

I remember when this was all fields!
I know what you mean though mate. It's a tad moribund of late to say the least. Even the tumbleweeds have got tumbleweed problems. It's a shame to see the old place in shit state like this for sure but when all's said and done if people cant be arsed then there's not much a poor boy can do really. Still you dont like to grumble do yers? I'm sure it'll pick up again given time. *lights pipe in cheery but staunch manner and builds baseball park* |
