If I'm honest, I thought it would be a mess. I thought it would be ravaged by political infighting and inefficiency.

Glad to report that I got it all wrong.

Best ever Olympics, with some unforgettable moments.

Forget about the rampant corruption at the IOC (allegedly) and the posturing and profiteering from the legacy (allegedly) and the crass commercial domination.

It really has been the greatest show on earth, and done better than ever before.

Now for the closing ceremony/party.

Regards

Skoob.

No Skoob, the closing ceremony was, like the opening ceremony, a mixture of awesomeness and mediocrity, but largely brilliant.

A high point for me was Eric Idle singing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life", but there were many other good moments. In fact, apart from the Spice Girls, it was almost all good.

For me, there was not enough Emeli Sande. I hope she's about for 2016.

I liked the closing ceremony. A good old fashioned Cockney knees up.

Not enough of the classic Ol' Joanna tunes though.

If 42 is the answer, the question is if 24 looks in the mirror, who does she see?

Dear Mr SKOOB,

I am unanimous in telling you how wrong you are about the closing ceremony. There was lots for all to see. I never saw any of it because they would not let me in. Despite the fact I am 103yrs old and dragged myself from Hounslow to the east end of London, they refused me entry because my zimmer frame could have been used as a terrorist weapon. I did see a bloke with a strange hat on but I think he was a road sweeper. Our Gracie would have had them on thier feet.

When they had the Olympics in Los Angeles everyone thought it would be a nightmare. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Everyone left town and it was beautiful. Freeways were clear and it ended up being better than regular every day in comparison.

Sounded like a Ghost town apart from that idiot flying around on his jetpack!
