I have often pondered this question. Why did he decide to have a night out on the plains, knowing the Blackfoot and Souix were having a rave that very weekend?
Did he have an invite? I doubt it. No wonder the tribes got the hump, when he complained about the noise. He should have called the sheriff's department. Or am I missing the point? Eswold Fungithoff Measul Woernip The Camps Cambridge |

It's well known that General Custer camped at Little Big Horn because of its excellent Shower and toilet facilities.
His adjutant had suggested that they stop at a nearby Haven caravan site instead, but Custer with his heightened vanity insisted on Little Big Horn where there was not only complimentary hair dryers, but also a manicurist and a reflexologist. Of course had he stopped at the 'Vomiting Dog' Haven caravan site the resulting battle could have been turned in his favour due to the abundant supplies of Gatling guns and furry gonks normally stocked at such places. I thought Little Big Horn was the brother that Sitting Bull never talked about without really turning red.

Ooh you are awful, but I like you. What's wrong with a bit of camp? At least General Custer had style. And such hair!
Better than those awful indians. Looking at those wigwams, you'd expect something a little more recherche. But they're such a disappointment. Drab, drab, drab. Little Big Horn indeed! |

I agree with Churchmouse, a Haven holiday camp would have been wiser, and the use of hairdryers might have swung the battle. But, is that any reason for Lynton to bring up the situation between Sitting Bull, and his bastard brother?
As for Erskins veiw, on post, 7th Cavalry gay riders, I feel he has missed the point. General custer must have had his hair done at the Haven, mentioned in Churchmouses piece, before the battle, because it was the only place with hairdryers. Has anyone read Colonel Creams account of the battle? Applefet Nondeplomb Kilk House Spewn The Mittings Oxford |
