Bit worrying this. Research suggests it originated in India in cheap cosmetic surgery clients, and there's nothing we have at the moment to combat it.

Am I missing something here Skoob? I just don't get it?
Is there a link missing or am I just being 'reeled in'?? |

That story is for real -- I saw it on yesterday's news. Apparently there is a major shortfall on the development of new antibiotics and there is nothing out there to combat this nasty bug. |

Scarier even yet, my doctor two years ago treated me with a heavy course of the strongest antibiotics known to man. She originally thought I had MRSA (this disease you're talking about). I was getting giant boils (I know gross-sorry) in various spots on my body including up in my sinus cavity, talk about hell on earth. They were amazingly painful and only after a couple of trips to the emergency room and my doctor following up with me every week for months, were we able to get it under control. I may have picked it up in Brasil.
It resurfaced in a milder form after my heart surgery and I had to be hospitalized with intravenous antibiotics flowing into me for 3 days to combat a serious infection in my leg. Not something I recommend anyone getting. So here's what you all do. Wash your hands--religiously--throughout the day. Use hand sanitizer always when going out into public and don't touch your hands to your face after you've been out in public. You can never be too careful. I learned the hard way. Just trying to help. This is no laughing matter. Charpa |

A workmate of mine lost his wife to MRSA about four years ago. She was only 34. Went into the hospital for a minor operation and never came out again. She left him with two young kids.
They're saying that this new 'superbug' is untreatable. Absolutely agree with Charpa on this one - and sorry to hear about your problems - this new bug is a worry. Regards Skoob. |

Yep, just glad mine is under control.
It's very worrisome when the very place you go to try and get better turns out to be the worst place in the world for you. |
