When do the candidates, Clinton, McCain, Obama and the other lads choose a vice president?

Is it before or after they win the the party vote to run for President?

I need to know.

10 pints rest on this one.

Officially afterwards, and generally at the respective nominating conventions.

Often (usually) however, they have made their preferences known prior to the convention, but it can not be made official until the candidate him/herself is officially nominated.

Hope you can tip one (or ten) for me Fergie!

Thank you Gnarly.

No one has asked the question as to why you are in Florida during the primary's.

Unofficial adjudicator?

Or the wife insisted?

Hi Mrs Gnarly!

The latter - the wifey is tired of cold winters, so we are buying a winter home in North Florida or southern Georgia - somewhere near Tallahassee, Florida.

And, I don't like it all that much down here. I made a pilgrimage to North Carolina last week, and liked it so much better, I plan another soon! Then, hopefully, back to Alaska in March.

Ain't missing all that snow shoveling though.

------------------------------------------------------------

It all makes sense now Gnarly.

John McCain names Senator Donie Cassidy as Vice President. Jeb Bush inconsolable.

The wig bit is true.

Thanks Gnarly,

The thing is, Senator Donie Cassidy has genuinely suggested that Ireland adopt driving on the right hand side of the road because it will stop our new eastern bloc immigrants having so many crashes.
120,000 immigrants are driving dangerously because they are'nt used to driving on the left hand side,

Donies solution- The other 3 and half million in the country should all change lanes.

You know?

People actually vote for this man.
He is leader of the Seanad (pronounced Shannad) Its kind of like the House of Lords except that Donie is the only one who wears a syrup.

Scary ****!

I should also add that some factors play into choosing a vice presidential running mate.

One is geography. For example, eastern liberal democrat JKF chose Texas Moderate Lyndon Johnson. Californian and conservative Ronald Reagan had Moderate Easterner (he wasn't really from Texas) Bush Senior. Politicians pick someone from a different part of the country to try to bring in that vote. Clinton/Gore was an exception as both were from the south.

Another popular thing to do is to pick the guy who was second in the nominating process. That tries to tie in both groups and unite the party.

Antoher factor is to look at and see who has the ability to raise the most money for the campaign. THis is another reason why Dukakis chose an eighty year old, should have been retired Texas senator (the geography was also right); he could bring the oil money to the campaign. They lost.

Old fart Bob Dole chose younger, former NFL star Jack Kemp to try to show some youth and vitality and cash in on a national image of a pro athlete that he thought would help him win. He lost.

No where in any of this mix do they ever examine the qualifications of the man to determine who will best support the president and who would be the best leader if he were to die. Those kind of decisions are just not politically sound.

Yep and Texas moderate Lyndon Johnson 99% part of the grisly business that saw JFK shot in Dallas November 1963.

Moral of the story: ALWAYS choose a running mate who knows how to cover their ass. Forty, fifty, sixty years or more.

Hope they now DNA test Hillary Clitoris with LBJ's remains.

Donie Cassidy would fit right in with many of our politicos, particularly those from the south and west. They're the ones with the bizarre proposals who want to be taken seriously. In fact, Donie makes MORE sense than most of those.

McCain Chooses Former Reagan Co-Star as VEEP

McCain could actually choose anytime, in fact he could take a major vacation and probably come back ahead in the polls by shutting up for a few months. That's the problem with our system, the idiots keep on talking and showing how stupid they are for over twelve months. By the time the election gets here, those with any sense, are sick of the lot, and vote independent!

Also, the Constitution requires that the President and Vice President be from different states; this was put in as a way to protect one end of the country from being ignored by the executive branch. Of course, choosing a running mate from the same state, or even a bordering state, would be political suicide, hence the usual extreme geographic diversity of running mates. A New Yorker choosing a New Jerseyite, or a Alabaman choosing a Mississippian, would probably be disastrous. The Clinton/Gore combo worked because they weren't stereotypical hard-right southerners.

This idea is perhaps proven by the current 'administration' (a contradiction in terms if I ever stumbled on one). War President Bush is from Texass. War Vice President Dick Cheney is ALSO from Texass - or at least he was before he conveniently 'decided' to move to Wyoming shortly before the campaign for the Neocon presidency began.

Just witness the unmitigated and ongoing disaster which has resulted . . .

And here I thought it was impossible to seriously want to to know anything about the U.S. elections. Hell, I don't even want to know. McCain will win for the simple fact he's an old white guy. You know that will happen, what the people want mean jacks**t. Or what the people don't want for that matter. The good ol' boy rule will always apply. I would be really surprised if either Hillary or Obama win. However, I would not want Hil for pres. I think she is weak and I don't trust her husband. I haven't even watched any of the debates.

With the kind of laws that are being put down nowadays, I don't think we are voting for a president, or have reps or senators, I think we are getting a comittee of dictators. Some of the laws that are passed are ridiculous. That's the problem with politics/politicians. They don't care about the people, they just care about the people that can get them the most money/influence, or can make their lives miserable. That's why all these activists groups get away with so much.

I mean come on, if a gay guy came up and started crap with my husband and attacked him, and my husband whipped the crap out of him. My husband would be the one to get into trouble, because it was a hate crime. But here is my question. Would my husband get into trouble for a hate crime, because he himself would be a minority. He's half South Korean. So, how does that work? If you are straight and white, then getting into a fight with anyone else would be a hate crime? Can someone explain this one too me?

Well, hell, I should have kept this for an article, lol.

For the first time Tiki I have to agree with you. I live in a small town here in Ireland and I am sick to death of being accosted on the streets by homosexual streetfighting colored thugs!

I do not often go into the local town for a night out as the place is swarming with immigrants, Ireland has had a huge influx of Polish, Latvians and lithuanian imigrants from Eastern Europe and Africa. Another fifteen years and our football team will be unbeatable. Hopefully.

Anyway Tiki, only the other night I was attacked by no less than four obviously male 4 inch high blue reprobates wearing dressess and carrying hand bags. they took my wallet and cash cards.

I have never been so terrified.
