I see Tom Utley's has another go at me in the Mail:
They've made me feel a pang of sympathy for poor, unlovable George Osborne (or do I mean rich, unlovable George Osborne?).
All right, I feel sorrier for the athletes whose medals the Chancellor was presenting.
Throughout all those years of gruelling training, they must have been dreaming of this crowning moment, spurring themselves on through the pain by imagining the rapturous acclaim that would be theirs when they mounted the podium to receive that coveted gong.
How deflated and baffled they must have felt when, instead of the expected cheer...
I'd not thought of like that... I could have use this in my defence if he'd written it earlier...
By the way, someone told me England had beaten Moldova, I thought the Olympics had finished?
