Got a call in the morning from a very stupid woman asking if I would attend an AIDS fundraiser in New York next week. I said I'd be happy to as long as the payment clears before the event. She actually asked "What payment?" I had to explain to this obviously thick lady that I was referring to my standard fee of $100,000 for US speaking engagements.
The moron then actually had the nerve to say "We don't pay our speakers. They give of their time for a good cause and they make a donation." I had to explain to this obviously uneducated woman that I am the wife of a former world leader and my time doesn't come cheap!
The creature then actually raised her voice at me - ME! - and said "Sorry but we are a charity and we don't have the resources to pay you $100,000. We rely on the goodwill of high profile speakers to speak at our fund...
